Blepharoplasty (Greek: blepharon, “eyelid” + plassein “to form”) is the plastic surgery operation for correcting defects, deformities, and disfigurations of the eyelids; and for aesthetically modifying the eye region of the face.
I have never liked my eyes, always tired, squinty, they really showed my age. They had bothered me for years and finally when I started to get passed up for roles…and dates, I decided enough was enough.
I got online and started to learn about Blepharoplasty and researched a number of Cosmetic Surgeons in my home city of Toronto, Canada. I knew a successful Producer who had work from Dr. Peter Bray and took his advice, I scheduled a consultation. Dr. Bray is an easy going guy and not at all pushy, he is really knowledgable and explained everything in lay-mans terms. Soon I felt like I fully understood the procedure and wasn’t at all nervous.
When the big day came I was wearing comfortable clothes and I even got to help select the music in the OR- Ok we compromised, we both love The Blues. I remember talking to Dr. Bray throughout the entire procedure, we talked about concerts we went to as kids and even joked about how much life has changed since then. The anesthetic made the procedure completely painless and his bedside manner was warm and friendly, the nurses were also kind and made me feel like I was in good hands.
After the procedure I had a brief rest in his recovery suite, much nicer than any hotel I had ever stayed in. After a brief chat and some helpful information to take home about my recovery, I was up and on my way. I had booked a couple days off work and just took it easy, no tv or computer at first but lots of good food and rest. My girlfriend took wonderful care of me.
My recovery was fast and easy and I was back working and being productive soon after. My Blepharoplasty (aka Eye Lift), was so well done that there was little scarring and it wasn’t at all noticeable to my friends and colleagues. I had no complications or trouble healing, I did follow all of the healing instructions to the letter. I felt revived, refreshed and more youthful. People commented that I looked fresh, alert, on top of things.
Years have passed and I still feel good about my decision, the procedure has survived the test of time and was completely worth it, it helped my confidence and self esteem and allows me to remain competitive in my industry with younger men. I think this relatively simple and painless operation is one of the most beneficial and lasting to give a rejuvenated, revived and youthful appearance for years to come. Thanks- JB.
