Gynecomastia is a fairly typical condition in men and boys, in which the breasts swell and increase in size. All people have breasts, however they are not usually pronounced in men, since they will in general be small and not as developed as in women.
Gynecomastia may become a confidence issue in young men experiencing puberty and likewise an embarrassment to older more established men.
This condition does not imply that somebody has additional fat from being overweight. It is brought about by hormonal changes and extra breast tissue. Doing exercise or shedding pounds won’t decrease the breast tissue seen in Gynecomastia.
Surgery for Gynecomastia
The breast is comprised of glandular tissue, which is firm and thick, and the surrounding tissue, which is more delicate.
This proportion differs between people. A man with Gynecomastia may have excessive tissue of either kind.
Liposuction can remove an overabundance of soft tissue. This includes introducing a small cannula through a 3-to 4-millimetre entry point.
Reduction implies removing tissue with a surgical tool, to extract an abundance of glandular tissue. This will typically leave a small scar around the edge of the areola.
In the event that a large reduction in tissue and skin is needed, the entry point and the scar will be bigger.
Sometimes, both breast reduction and liposuction will be used.
After this procedure, the chest may be painful and swollen, and the patient may need to wear a bandage for about fourteen days to help decrease the swelling.
It will typically take about a month and a half to return to an ordinary daily routine. Complications from Gynecomastia surgery are uncommon.
