Thinking about getting Plastic Surgery but unsure about the best time of year to get it done? The Fall and Winter months might be the best time of year for Plastic Surgery, here are a few reasons why:
Recuperation is easier:
Many people are reluctant to undergo procedures such as a Breast Augmentation, Tummy Tuck, BBL or a combination of these procedures, such as in a Mommy Makeover. This is because they are too busy for the recuperation process. Unfortunately, there are few exceptions to the "down time" needed to recover from these surgeries. There are the exception of Botox treatments, Fillers, Microdermabrasion and other non-invasive in office procedures. If you do undergo invasive surgery and you need a few days to rest before returning to a light schedule, the Winter months are often the best time year to take time off. When you do start to resume a more regular routine, the layers of seasonal clothing and Winter apparel will help conceal any post-surgery scars, bandages or other indications of surgery.
A great reason for a "Staycation":
There is an increasing trend in our modern society towards the concept of a "Staycation". Many individuals now schedule time off to stay at home and get things done or unwind after stressful periods in their career or lives. If your life feels overwhelming or you have gone through some sort of recent trauma, a rejuvenating procedure and a subsequent "Staycation" may be just the thing for you. Being at home, near your Doctor and your family and friends is essential to proper healing and good results. While some thrifty people partake in "travel medicine" or surgeries abroad, while this may be less expensive in foreign countries, complications can arise and your health may be at risk. In addition there is usually no follow-up care or responsibility taken by your foreign Doctor. In some instances patients have experienced bad results and medical complications even resulting in death.
The Gift of Plastic Surgery:
Most people agree that the holidays, such as Christmas and Valentines Day are the best times of the year. It has become completely normal for loving couples or family members to gift each other Plastic Surgery as a symbol of their love and concern for each other. Moms and daughters now commonly go for Botox or other skin care treatments together. Couples Plastic Surgery is one of the fastest growing trends, and part of the reason some relationships last. Whether or not someone gives you the gift of Plastic Surgery, you are always welcome to treat yourself. After a busy and stressful holiday season and the long, cold grind of Winter (with it's damaging effects on the skin and body), it is more than OK to give yourself a little "pick-me-up" to refresh and rejuvenate your appearance and mindset.
Fall and Winter are the times of year we need to be most loved and pampered. Often simple gestures or some self-care can make a huge difference in our lives and the lives of our loved ones. This is a wonderful opportunity to turn a more trying time of year into a time to focus on health and well being. Don't forget, if you are going to get ANY treatments or procedures done, always contact a board certified Plastic Surgeon.
